Took
the plane back to Lima and later that afternoon, President Weston and his wife
(a CPA from Sacramento) picked us up and drove us out to the temple, stopping
at KFC for a quick dinner. Arrived at 6:30 p.m.. Session was at 7. Sherrie and
I were witness couple. Very interesting. Only 25 seats in endowment room. Temple
busy when we arrived, apparently they had about 140 kids come in from Trujillo
to do baptisms for the dead along with a couple other unscheduled buses from
out of town. Temple president is Royce Glade. 2nd counselor is Jim Lemmon, from
Hurricane, who was in the mission field with me. He called me later at the hotel
and we arranged to meet at church on Sunday.
The officiator was named Johnson and turns out
Stan Neilson grew up in the same ward in Arizona where Johnson lived. Small
world.
Took a "calle de taxi" back to the hotel.
What an experience. Whoever gets their "nose in first", gets the
right of way. 15 soles fare (3.25 soles to 1 dollar).
