RACHEL'S CONCERT AND NAPA VALLEY TOUR |
May 16-18, 2008 |
Friday Sherrie and I took Southwest to San Jose to attend Rachel's concert "Brahms' "Ein Deutsches Requiem" (see below)" at the Mission Santa Clara. She is singing with the Santa Clara Chorale. The concert was very good. Rachel said that the director, Tom Colohan, is leaving to pursue his Doctorate degree back east.
Saturday morning we drove to Vallejo and visited the Elliott car collection (and saw some of Ryan's dad's other fun collections). Beautiful cars! We took a 32 Ford to lunch and then took a 67 Camaro convertible on a tour of the Napa valley. The day was beautiful and ended with a memorable (and surpisingly tasty) dinner at Millenium Restaurant in the City and ice cream at Maggie Mudd's.
Sunday was a leisurely day just lounging and playing a new game called "Sequence"...well, new to Sherrie and me. You will notice from the pictures that Rachel and Ryan were trying to get me to eat a healthy breakfast. I wanted to eat the caramel corn but oatmeal and fruit won out in the end.
The last bunch of pictures were taken by Rachel with her Nikon.

Brahms Requiem Orchestral Season
Finale
Friday, May 16, 2008, Mission Santa Clara 8:00 p.m.
In this highly anticipated season finale the Santa Clara Chorale will join voices with the Santa Clara University Choirs and a full professional orchestra to perform Johannes Brahms crowning achievement, the soul-stirring Ein Deutches Requiem, Op. 45. The concert will also feature Brahms brief and moving work, Schicksalslied (Song of Destiny) Op. 54, a rarely heard jewel for chorus and orchestra. Come help us kick off our Australian tour!
