This morning you will take a close look at the capital of Ecuador: Quito.
This city of 2 million inhabitants is located at the foot of the active volcano
Pichincha at an altitude of 9,405 feet. After driving along the northern residential
section, you will stroll downtown and visit the colonial temples and monasteries
of the old city - El Centro historico. This area was designated by UNESCO
as a World Heritage Site. You will visit St. Augustine Convent and Independence
Square, flanked by the Cathedral, the Presidential Palace,, the Niunicipat
Building and the Archbishop's Palace.
